A Beginners Guide To What To Wear When You're Stumped

You've slept through at least four alarms and on the fifth, you jump up, and realize you're late for that scheduled meeting or worst yet, a final exam in school where there are no second chances.

You hit the shower and out in 90 seconds flat, then move towards your closet and fling the doors open so hard and fast, it almost comes off its hinges or track depending on the type of closet doors you have.

Your eyes begin to scan what looks like a very miserable, diminished collection of clothes, because half of it is in the laundry, and the remaining half still hanging, well?

Have no fear. Here are a few pointers to get your brain unraveled, and a list of must haves, so you'll know what to wear when you don't know what to wear. First things first.  Take a chill pill, then...


You have to know what the weather is in the moment, and throughout the day. Sometimes the weather starts out cold in the morning, and evolves into a much warmer afternoon and evening, or vice versa. 


Stocking up on the basics will eliminate the panic mode you experience when you're against the clock, or pounding your head trying to figure out what to wear. No need to try and re-invent the wheel. Keep it simple.  Rely on the very pieces that form the back bone of a wardrobe like:

  • Basic T-shirts
  • Jeans & Chinos
  • Sweatshirts & Hoodies
  • Jackets - Light and one Down Jacket
  • Casual Shirts & Oxfords
  • Nice pair of sneakers and casual shoes.

Stick to neutral colors like blues, black, white, khaki, beige and grey in various shades, then you can layer color to suit your style and taste. There is absolutely no need to over complicate things, and with these pieces, you could never go wrong!
